Fie Schouten, main subject teacher, bass clarinetist, and composer, will temporarily reside in the famous studio house, the Van Doesburghuis in Meudon-Paris, in 2025. During her stay, she will focus on deepening her project.

Fie is specialised in contemporary music and the lower clarinets. She is the artistic director of the Basklarinet Festijn (Bass Clarinet Festival). During her residency, she will work on the composition Free Space, based on the book Espèces d’Espace / Species of Spaces by Georges Perec. The stay in Meudon will allow her to collaborate intensively with French composers Jérôme Combier and Kerwin Rolland. Fie will be in residence at the studio house during the months of July and August 2025.

About the Van Doesburghuis

This house was the former residence of the artist duo Theo and Nelly van Doesburg. Since 2017, it has been made available to artists working in the many fields in which Theo and Nelly van Doesburg were active: architecture, visual arts, literature, music, design, and the performing arts.

The residency is a joint initiative of Dutch cultural funds: the Performing Arts Fund, the Creative Industries Fund, the Film Fund, the Mondriaan Fund, and the Dutch Foundation for Literature.
