From February 24th to 27th, the jazzahead! Up and Coming Writers Camp creates a creative meeting place for female and non-binary musicians from the fields of jazz and improvised music. With the writers camp, jazzahead! promotes international exchange, young talent and gender balance in the jazz world.

An international jury selected two up-and-coming projects from Bremen and Groningen to work on new material together over several days during the writers camp. The two bands, zwanzig nach eins from Bremen and FOUR from Groningen, will be coached by the internationally active bass player Lisa Hoppe. The bands will prepare their new material for a joint performance at the jazzahead! CLUBNIGHT on April 25th.

FOUR

FOUR is a vibrant jazz collective formed by four musicians with diverse musical backgrounds. The band, with students from the Prince Claus Conservatoire, came together through a shared love for jazz and a desire to explore and blend their various musical influences.

The camp is realised with support of Clubverstärker e.V. and the Senator für Kultur as part of the “Perspektivwechsel” funding program as well as the inJazz programme from Buma Cultuur. The project is carried out in cooperation with Musikszene Bremen e.V., Buma Cultuur and the Prince Claus Conservatoire.
