Programme

When you have been admitted to the Preparatory Programme you can follow these lessons:

• main instrument: 32 lessons of 45 minutes
• accompaniment: (for melody instruments and vocalists): 10 lessons of 20 minutes
• theory (solfege and general music theory): 24 group lessons of 60 minutes

Options

• Programme with propaedeutic subjects (VOP): If your playing skills are not yet at the required level, but your theoretical skills are, the admissions committee can give you permission to take propaedeutic courses. You do not follow the VO theory lessons, but participate in some of the first-year courses. This depends on the size of the relevant study groups of first-year students. You will be informed at the start of the school year whether this is possible.
   
• Programme with theory (VOT): This is the general programme, you follow all the subjects within the preparatory programme.
   
• Programme without theory: If your theorical skills are at the required level for the first year, you follow the general programme without the theory subjects.
   
• Main subject lessons: In some cases we advise you to follow lessons with your own teacher on top of the lessons you have with us, or maybe you are just too busy with school to follow the entire programme. After consultation with your main subject teacher here at PCC you can opt for taking 10 main instrument lessons during the school year.

Entering into the bachelor's programme

The Preparatory Programme is an excellent preparation for the first year of the bachelor's programme, but it does not guarantee that you will be admitted. You have to take the regular entrance exam again with the other first year candidates.

NB: if you go to secondary school for at least one year after the summer, you cannot apply through Studielink. Please go to HanzeApply/Osiris. If you graduate this year, or have already graduated, apply through StudieLink. 

Programme

In the Preparatory Programme you follow these lessons:

• ensemble lessons
• theory and solfege
• master classes New York teachers (New York comes to Groningen programme) 

You may be allowed to follow propaedeutic subjects after consultation with the entrance comittee, depending on the size of the first year classes.  

Tuition fee

The fee for for the 2024-2025 school year is € 2.530.
